The Plan
We’re Pete and Andrea, and we are on a mission – Recycling! As the “original Wedding Can Couple” we have collected 400,000 aluminum cans in order to pay for our July handfasting / wedding with recycling. It took us 197 days – six and a half months. We got help from people in Spokane and around the world.
With just a few weeks until our July 31 wedding, we’re now deep in wedding planning. This doesn’t mean we are done, though! We are continuing to collect cans. 40% of the proceeds from this point forward are going to go towards a honeymoon fund. The other 60% is going to be going to Doctors Without Borders and the Rim Country Land Institute.
Since our idea first received national attention, plenty of people have borrowed the idea, and that excites us more than anything. And our wedding? Keep following us here and on Facebook. We are still planning a potluck, DIY decorations, getting help from family and friends with flowers, home-brewed beer, cake, and even the rehearsal dinner. We will continue to post photos, stories, and what we’re learning on this site.
